xTal – Interactive Human Music Interface

Project xTal shows how music controlled electro mechanical tactile stimulations and different medical sensors connected to Arduinos can be used to make a human body part of a multi channel sound processing chain. Music data are processed to control several devices for tactile stimulation e.g. vibrators. The arousal of a human being provoked by the stimulators is gauged by medical sensors. Signals of the sensors are sent to a computer where they are proecessed to influence the music and to generate additional sounds and visuals. The interrelation between the different musical, psychophysiological and mathematical parameters is explored. The results will lead to an interactive performance creating music and visuals.
